It’s a known tradition that if someone is looking for a job, then best way is to just upload the resume in job board. But now things have changed and the new methods are being applied to find a beneficial resource. Hence it is very much important to know how one can hunt job effectively. In other words how can you be accessible to the recruiter or head-hunter in every possible way?

- Job Boards/Portals (like Monster, Dice Jobs, Times Jobs etc) are definitely helpful in identifying new positions available. Give the right keywords or key skills in your resume and upload the profile in job boards. It will help in getting the responses for suitable position. Usually recruiters will send mass e-mails based on the key skills. Hence cross check the job description and understand if the position and your profile are matching before responding to the e-mail. You can find the open positions based on similar company or your skill sets and apply.
- LinkedIn is a very effective way of finding the right talent. Create your profile in LinkedIn. You need not upload your profile here, but mention the key skills and experience or if you are a fresh graduate then graduation details etc. Creating a profile does not mean that you are actively looking for a job. But it will always grab the attention of head-hunters/recruiters which will definitely get you good opportunities. Remember that company may not publish the new positions anywhere but will follow different methods to find good profile.
- Join different Networking sites like SiliconIndia (for Indians), Twitter, Facebook , Orkut , Google and Yahoo groups etc. Join relevant groups here. Again the benefit is you need not have to upload resume. Update the experience level and skill set. If any position relevant to your skill is open then the head-hunter will approach you to discuss on this. Again this position may not be openly published outside. So may not even aware of this until you speak to the recruiter.Make a list of similar companies. Keep checking if any suitable vacancy for you. You can share your resume if you know anyone in that particular company. Else find out the hiring manager and share it to him/her with a cover letter. Identify headhunting agencies and either share your resume or add them in your professional network for future communications.
